Okayama Castle

Okayama Castle

Okayama City (岡山城) is a castle located in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. It is also known as “Crow Castle” due to its distinctive black exterior.

The castle was originally built in 1597 by Ukita Hideie, a powerful feudal lord, but it was destroyed during World War II. The castle was rebuilt in 1966 using modern materials, but it was constructed to closely resemble the original design.

The castle has five floors and a basement, with exhibits on each floor showcasing the history and culture of Okayama Prefecture. Visitors can also enjoy panoramic views of the city from the castle’s observation deck.

The castle is located in the Korakuen Garden, one of the three most famous traditional gardens in Japan, and visitors can combine a visit to the castle with a stroll through the garden.
