
Hanamiyama (花見山) is a popular tourist destination located in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. Renowned for its beautiful display of flowers, particularly cherry blossoms, it attracts numerous visitors during the spring season. The name “Hanamiyama” translates to “Flower Viewing Mountain,” and the area boasts over 100 varieties of flowers, including cherry blossoms, forsythia, Japanese quince, magnolia, and flowering dogwood.
Hanamiyama is a privately-owned flower farm spanning approximately 30 hectares. The landscape is characterized by numerous small hills, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. During the cherry blossom season, typically from early April to early May, the hills are adorned with a stunning tapestry of pink and white blossoms.
Visitors can explore the various walking trails that meander through the hills, providing picturesque views of the surrounding countryside. Several small shops and food vendors in the area offer local souvenirs and snacks. With an average of 600,000 visitors annually, Hanamiyama is a highlight of spring tourism in Fukushima, showcasing the beauty and tranquility of nature.
Getting there
By Train and Bus
- From JR Fukushima Station East Exit Bus Stop 8, take the Watari Minami-mawari Line (05-0)
- Get off at “Hanamiyama Iriguchi” bus stop (about 15 minutes)
- Walk about 25 minutes from the bus stop
Shuttle Bus
During cherry blossom season (March 23 – April 14, 2024), direct shuttle buses operate from JR Fukushima Station East Exit to Hanamiyama

By Taxi

By Car
- About 30 minutes from Fukushima-Nishi IC on the Tohoku Expressway (via Routes 115, 4, and 114)

Note: During cherry blossom season, traffic restrictions are in place and direct access by private car is not allowed. Use the temporary parking lot at Abukuma Mizube Park and transfer to a shuttle bus.
Admission Fee
An environmental maintenance cooperation fee of 500 yen per person (elementary school age and above) is required.
Hanamiyama is a popular cherry blossom viewing spot in Fukushima City, with peak bloom typically from mid to late April. Various types of cherry trees and flowering plants are planted on the hillside, offering beautiful scenery.
