Heiwadai Park

Heiwadai Park

Heiwadai Park (平和台公園) is a public park located in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. The park covers an area of approximately 68.8 hectares and was established in 1939.

The park is known for its large statue of a peace tower, which stands at the center of the park and is visible from many parts of the city. The peace tower, originally built in 1940 as the “Hakko Ichiu” tower, stands 36.4 meters tall. It is made of concrete and has three floors, with an observation deck on the top floor that provides panoramic views of Miyazaki City. Due to its wartime origins and association with the controversial “Hakko Ichiu” concept, the tower has been a subject of debate.

Heiwadai Park also features several other attractions, including a traditional Japanese garden, a pond, a playground, and a baseball field. The park is a popular spot for picnics, walking, and other outdoor activities, and it is especially popular during the cherry blossom season when the park is covered in beautiful pink blooms.
