
Tokushima City (徳島) is the capital city of Tokushima Prefecture in Japan, located on the eastern coast of Shikoku Island. It has a population of approximately 250,000 people.
The city is renowned for its Awa Odori festival, one of the largest dance festivals in Japan, held annually in August. During the festival, groups of dancers, including professionals, amateurs, and tourists, perform traditional dances in the streets of Tokushima City.
Other attractions in Tokushima City include the Tokushima Castle Ruins, where only the stone walls remain, offering views of the city and surrounding mountains. The former Tokushima Prefectural Museum, which showcased the history and culture of the region, closed in March 2023, and its exhibits have been relocated to the Okinawa History and Culture Center.
The city serves as a transportation and commerce hub in the region, with a busy port and several large shopping centers and department stores.
