Golden Week Notice: All “Nozomi” Shinkansen Trains Will Be Reserved Seating

During Golden Week (GW) 2024, all “Nozomi” Shinkansen trains on the Tokaido and Sanyo lines will be reserved seating. No unreserved seats will be available, so please be aware of the following points before making your travel plans:

1. Early Booking is Essential

“Nozomi” trains are expected to be extremely crowded during the GW period, especially from Saturday, April 29th to Monday, May 1st. We strongly recommend making your reservations early to secure your desired date, time, and seat.

2. Utilize Various Discounts

You can save money on your “Nozomi” tickets by taking advantage of various discounts, such as early booking and online booking discounts. The earlier you book, the higher the discount rate may be, so be sure to check the information on each company’s website.

3. Consider Other Trains

If all “Nozomi” reserved seats are sold out, you may be able to travel smoothly by using other trains such as “Hikari” or “Kodama”. These trains have unreserved seats available, so you can purchase tickets on the day of travel.

4. Other Important Notes

• Reservations can be made from 10:00 AM one month before the travel date. Some tickets may be available for booking up to one year in advance.
• “FREX” and “FREX Pal” Shinkansen passes cannot be used for reserved seating without a separate limited express ticket.
• In-car sales and Green car services will be available as usual.
