The Hozugawa Cruise (保津川下り) is a popular tourist attraction in Kyoto, Japan that takes visitors on a scenic boat ride down the Hozu River, which runs through the picturesque Arashiyama district. The ride starts from the Kameoka boarding point, and the traditional wooden boats take visitors on a 16-kilometer (10-mile) journey down the river to the Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama. The journey typically takes about 2 hours, but can vary depending on water levels and weather conditions.

The Hozugawa River runs through a beautiful gorge, surrounded by towering cliffs, lush forests, and rolling hills, providing a breathtaking natural setting for the boat ride. The journey is characterized by several exciting rapids and twists and turns along the way, providing a thrilling experience for visitors.

  • About 8 minutes walk from JR Kameoka Station (North Gate)
  • Located near the Shin Hozu Ohashi Bridge in Kameoka

To get there from Kyoto Station:

  1. Take a 20-minute train ride to JR Kameoka Station
  2. From JR Kameoka Station, you can either:
  • Walk about 8 minutes to the boarding site
  • Take a short bus ride (160 yen) to the boarding area
