Yanaka (谷中) is a district located in Taito ward, Tokyo, Japan. It is known for its charming and traditional atmosphere, which offers visitors a glimpse into old Tokyo. Yanaka is home to several temples and shrines, traditional Japanese houses, and small shops and cafes that line its narrow streets.
The most famous attraction in Yanaka is the Yanaka Ginza shopping street. Located between Nippori and Sendagi Stations, it is a 170 meter street with about 70 stores.
Yanaka Ginza was born spontaneously around 1945. Since then, it has developed as a neighborhood-type shopping district, overcoming various changes in commercial flow. Since the beginning of the Heisei era, the Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi neighborhoods have attracted attention as “Yanesen,” and as the center of downtown strolling, they have attracted customers from a wide area, from far and wide, and even from overseas.
