Ohori Park

Ohori Park

Ohori Park (大濠公園) is a public park located in the heart of Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. The park was originally created in 1929 by transforming a former moat of Fukuoka Castle into a large pond, which is now a popular destination for boating and water sports.

Ohori Park covers an area of approximately 39.9 hectares and is home to a variety of gardens, including a Japanese garden and a Chinese garden. The park also features walking paths, playgrounds, and several sports facilities, including tennis courts, a baseball field, and a soccer field.

One of the most notable features of Ohori Park is the Ukimido, an iconic red hexagonal pavilion floating on the pond’s island, accessible by a picturesque red bridge. Visitors can also enjoy the park’s many cherry blossom trees, which bloom in the spring and attract large crowds for picnics and hanami (cherry blossom viewing) parties.

Throughout the year, Ohori Park hosts a variety of cultural events and festivals, including music concerts, art exhibitions, and food festivals. The park is a popular destination for both locals and visitors, offering a peaceful oasis in the heart of the bustling city.
