Kiyomizudera

Kiyomizudera

Kiyomizudera (清水寺) is a historic Buddhist temple located in eastern Kyoto, Japan. It was founded in 778 AD and is one of the most famous temples in Japan, attracting millions of visitors every year.

The temple complex includes several buildings and structures, including the main hall, the Otowa waterfall, and the Jishu Shrine. The main hall is built on a steep hillside and is supported by massive wooden pillars, giving it a distinctive and impressive appearance. Visitors can also enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area from the temple’s veranda.

The Otowa waterfall is located at the base of the hill and is known for its pure and refreshing water, which is said to have healing properties. Visitors can drink the water from three different streams, each of which is believed to offer different benefits.

The Jishu Shrine is dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking, and is popular among young couples who come to pray for happiness and a successful relationship.
