Maruyama Park

Maruyama Park

Maruyama Park (円山公園) is a public park located in the heart of Kyoto, Japan. It is one of the oldest and most popular parks in the city and is renowned for its cherry blossoms, attracting large crowds of visitors each spring. The park covers an area of approximately 90,000 square meters and features a large pond, walking paths, and several historic structures.

One of the most famous structures near the park is Yasaka Pagoda, a five-story pagoda that is part of the adjacent Yasaka Shrine. The pagoda is illuminated at night, creating a beautiful scene that is particularly popular during cherry blossom season.

In addition to the cherry blossoms, Maruyama Park is also known for its large weeping cherry tree, illuminated at night during the spring season. The park is also home to several food vendors selling traditional Japanese snacks and drinks, and features statues of Ryoma Sakamoto and Shintaro Nakaoka, two prominent figures of the Meiji Restoration.
